Why am I on Team Jacob? At the beginning, it was mostly because I was sick of people saying Edward is perfect - which he is most obviously NOT. He overreacts and is overprotective. He's lucky Bella is so needy of him or Jacob would've been her choice.
Jacob was a jerk in Eclipse, making her think that he was gonna go kill himself. But hey, it had worked with Edward when HE was actually gonna kill himself, and since nothing Jacob was trying had worked yet, he decided to do that. He was desperate.
Also, Edward is over a hundred years old. Jacob, who is still a teenage boy, whose love of his life is in love with his mortal enemy, still has growing up to do - of course he'll make mistakes.. Not to mention that the love of his life is about to BECOME his mortal enemy - and he himself is a mythical creature? That's gotta screw someone up.
Not to mention the problems Edward has, and he had over 100 years to fix them. Has he? That would be a NO.
Doesn't anyone remember the AWESOME friend Jacob was in New Moon, when - *laughs* get this - Edward LEFT? Or, even the sweet boy that danced badly with Bella at her prom?? I DO!! I'm sick of people saying they love Edward and hate Jacob. The only reason Edward SEEMS so perfect is because we see him from Bella's view of him, as some sort of evilyetgood Greek God. If we saw it from any other point of view, you can bet he wouldn't even be close to perfect.
And if Jacob was so bad, why does Bella love him? Hmm? More than "brother from another mother" sense?
At least he fights for her.....Although I wish he'd get over her, he really deserves better, which Bella knows, which brings her up slightly in my eyes (plus, it'd probably be good for his health). I like Bella, but come on...Edward? He's okay at times, and his "self-control" is admirable, but "perfect" is going WAY too far in describing the guy.
Edward's the one who left her. Bella had to go get him for him to come back.
Jacob left only when he knew Bella loved Edward more than him. When Edward left, Jacob was barely in the picture. It's Edward's fault, in at least two ways, Jacob became such a big part in the first place!
And when Jacob comes back - which I'm most certain he WILL - Bella will not have come after him. He will come back on his own (unless he imprints on someone in Canada).
ALSO, here's another person's opinion I found on Yahoo answers that I think voices the majority of it.
"I like Jacob because he's human. He has faults and makes mistakes, but he still tries. I like that he can give Bella a human future. Having kids, getting older, having human experiences, and, in time, dying, are all important to me. My friends and family are all important to me. I like Jake because he can give her all those things that I find to be so important. I think Bella would be happier if she had all those things. Edward can't give her any of that.
I hate the vampire lifestyle. I hate it. All of the Cullens-- with the exceptions of Carlisle and Esme-- have killed people. I've never been able to forgive them for that, even if it's "in their nature". I hate knowing that they've all murdered people. I hate being cold, too. I hate the concept of sucking blood. I hate the concept of living forever on Earth (immortality is a slow form of suicide). I don't like the vampires at all. I don't want Bella to become a vampire, which she will have to be if she stays with Edward.
I like Jake because I like Bella more when she's with him. When she's with Jake, she is a little more independent and can stand on her own two feet better. She seems more relaxed and comfortable. When she's with Eddie, she always complains about "not being good enough" or "not being pretty enough" and she constantly frets about needing to be a vampire. She has a huge inferiority complex with Ed. When she's with Jake, she has more confidence in herself. She seems happier to be *Bella* instead of some weird bloodsucking monster. Plus I think Jake knows more about Bella than Edward does. Jake knows things about her that she's never even told him-- he can just pick up on it (like the whole music thing). Edward doesn't do stuff like that.
I like Jake and Bella's relationship more. It seems healthier. She can be around him while still interacting with those around her. When she's with Edward, she shuts everyone out but Edward. The world disappears. It's unhealthy. Bella can tell Jake anything-- they are completely comfortable together. Whereas she can't do that with Edward, or so I feel. She keeps things from him if she thinks it will hurt him. Plus, Bella and Jake's relationship has a foundation of friendship and trust. Bella and Edward's seemingly has no foundation. Why do they love each other? What drew them to each other? The fact that he couldn't hear her thoughts and she smelled nice? Well, those are lovely things to build a relationship off of.
I like Jake because his personality is much more appealing to me than Edward's is. Edward lies to Bella and keeps things from her ALL THE TIME. Jake is honest, almost to a fault. He *always* tells the truth, even if it will hurt people. He doesn't lie to Bella and he wouldn't keep things from her. He's protective, but he's not smothering about it like Edward is. He is the kind of person that you can't help but be happy around. He's the kind of person who loves you for you, instead of what he/others wants you to be. He's the kind of person who is unbelievably loyal and is the best friend you could ever have. He's really funny, too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that he is so upfront, because I'm like that. I'm a frank person-- I'll tell you how it is. I like that he says what he thinks, takes his stand, and is just really blunt about it. That's a lot better than someone who dilly-dallies around. He isn't very romantic (which appeals to me like none other. I HATE ROMANTIC BOYS.), except for when it fits the moment. He is fun to be around, and you can do wacky things with him, but at the same time, he can be serious when he needs to be. Considering that he's only 16, he's pretty mature. He just seems like a great guy. He isn't black and white, usually-- he's more of a gray. He can compromise fairly well. He makes an effort to understand Bella's need for Edward, whereas Edward makes no attempt to understand her attachment to Jake. He's laidback and relaxed. Whereas to me, Edward seems like a controlling, suffocating, black-and-white, possessive, overbearing, overprotective control freak. Jacob seems like a better partner than Edward (IMO).
Jake doesn't give up. I find it so incredibly sweet that he wanted to save Bella's life. People say he's "selfish" and "doesn't care about Bella's feelings" and "only wants Bella for himself", but that's not it at all. So many people don't understand Jake. He does what he does because he loves Bella and wants to save her life-- winning her heart would just be a bonus for him. And Bella led him on-- she made him feel like there was more to the relationship. Which there was.
Don't get me wrong-- Jake has some growing up to do. He's only 16, after all. He's still maturing and he isn't perfect. But I think he has the potential to be an amazing husband/boyfriend. I just loooooooove him. He completely PWNS Edward in my book.
And honestly, Jake goes through the most character development. He goes from little scrawny teenager, to best friend, to werewolf who suddenly has responsibilities. Jake seems REAL. I can actually see boys like Jake existing-- whereas Edward's don't exist. Jake is realistic. And that makes him easy to relate with. He's easily the character I identify with most.
Jake sounds so much hotter than Edward, too. I mean honestly-- a monstrously tally and muscly INDIAN (Heck yeah, Indians are GORGEOUS!) who is warm and friendly? With pretty red skin and beautiful black hair? Why would you want a cold, hard, bloodsucking rock when you could have Jake?! ;) "
Sorry it's so long. Anyone with me on this?
